Alice Chalifoux, former Principal Harpist of the Cleveland Orchestra

“I believe what is going to happen will happen. Something always points the way.”

Fortunately, something pointed me in the direction of Alice Chalifoux. In the summer of 1993, I attended the Salzedo Harp School in Camden, Maine. Little did I know at the time, that this would be the first of six summers I would spend at the historical harp colony. I remember vividly sitting on the large porch of the Salzedo House waiting for my lesson, the sight of distant boats in the bay, the smell of salt air and the sound of gentle harp music from inside.

I continued my studies with Alice Chalifoux at the Oberlin Conservatory. Miss Chalifoux is an extraordinary teacher, mentor and friend. She taught me how to play the harp and she showed me that it is much more than just pulling strings. She continues to be my inspiration to this day.
