"There is nothing difficult; there are just new things."
-- Carlos Salzedo

Sarah Anne ManningLearning to play the harp can be a rewarding experience at any age. Sarah Stuart is an experienced teacher that has taught students ages 6 to 86. She has students who play the harp as an extra-curricular activity, others play for relaxation and some play for therapy. The harp is a beautiful instrument to learn and it is rewarding right from the beginning. It does not take a long time to produce a pretty sound on the harp. The challenge lies in learning to play it well with proper technique.

Sarah Stuart has a flexible innovative approach to teaching; she will create a lesson and study schedule to help you achieve your personal goals. She is experienced at teaching both beginning and advanced students, private and group lessons. Her lessons incorporate classical, folk, Celtic and pop genres depending on students' interests. All lessons emphasize solid Salzedo technique, theory skills and ear training.

Sarah began teaching while she was a student at the Oberlin Conservatory. She taught lessons to non-harp majors at the Oberlin Conservatory under the supervised teaching program organized by Alice Chalifoux. Subsequently, Sarah taught at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.

Sarah teaches in her private harp studio in Brookline MA. This studio is easily accessible from the Green Line C Train or B Train, Storrow Drive or Route 90.

For information about private lessons please email Sarah Stuart.

"I have been studying harp with Sarah Manning Stuart for the last year and a half.  Sarah works very well with my music learning style.  She has helped me pick out music that has variety and appeals to me and has helped me prepare for performances.  She is patient and very positive when she teaches, and still holds me to a very high standard.  I love working with Sarah."
